Introduction

PulseScribe is a voice dictation application for macOS and Windows. This privacy policy explains how your data is handled depending on which mode you use: open-source (self-hosted) or PulseScribe Pro (managed subscription).

We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Open-Source Mode

When using PulseScribe in open-source mode, you control where your audio data is processed:

  • Local Processing: If you use local Whisper, your audio never leaves your device. All transcription happens locally on your Mac or PC.
  • Third-Party Providers: If you choose Deepgram, OpenAI, or Groq, your audio is sent directly to these providers using your own API keys. We do not receive or store this data.

In open-source mode, PulseScribe does not collect any analytics, telemetry, or personal data. The application runs entirely on your device.

PulseScribe Pro (Beta)

PulseScribe Pro is a managed subscription service. When using Pro:

  • Audio Processing: Your audio is sent to our infrastructure for transcription. We use trusted providers (Deepgram, OpenAI) to process your audio.
  • Data Retention: Audio data is processed in real-time and not stored permanently. We may retain minimal logs for debugging and service improvement for up to 30 days.
  • Account Data: We store your email address and subscription status to manage your Pro account.
